Food Closet Operations Manager

The Carmichael Food Closet has served food challenged families in the greater Carmichael area for fifty years with a volunteer staff.  As we move into the next years of service, we see the need for a part-time Operations Manager.

Requirements:

  • Coordinate daily receipt of donated and ordered food.
  • Place orders for food from the Sacramento Food Bank.
  • Work with volunteers to stock and distribute food.
  • Ensure that food safety protocols are followed.
  • Seek continuous improvement in processes and systems to maximize food handling and distribution.
  • Able to use warehouse equipment and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to use various resources to recruit and organize volunteers – e.g. Signup.com, Facebook, Hands on Sacramento.
  • Have a Food Handlers certificate or be willing to get one.

Hours: 15 to 20 hours per week.

Compensation:  $20 – $25/hour

Reports to: Food Closet Coordinator and Mission Division of the Session (church governing body)
